Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what LocalTide LLC ("LocalTide," "we," "us," or "our") collects when you use LocalTide (the "Service"), and how we use it. It's part of our Terms of Service.

1. What We Collect

Account information. Email address; a securely hashed password if you sign up that way; business/account name; and, if you sign in with Google, Facebook, Microsoft, or X, the basic profile info that provider shares with us (typically your name and a verified email).

Quick-login credentials. If you set up a device PIN or passkey, we store a securely hashed PIN (never the PIN itself) or a passkey's public key — never anything that could be used to impersonate your device's biometric sensor.

Business content. The website URL you submit for brand analysis, the text and metadata we extract from that page, and the resulting AI-generated brand profile (which you can edit).

Feature requests. Titles and descriptions you submit, and your votes. If you're not logged in, votes and submissions are tied to an anonymous cookie identifier rather than your account.

Support requests. The message you send us, your contact email, and — with the disclosure shown on the form — some diagnostic information (current page, browser/device details, and account info if you're signed in) to help us troubleshoot.

Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor collects your billing details directly — we don't see or store your full card number.

Cookies. We use a small number of functional cookies: to keep you signed in, to remember a device you've set up for quick login, to carry anonymous feature-request voting, and to protect the sign-in flow itself (CSRF/PKCE state). We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

2. How We Use It

  • To operate your account and the features you use.
  • To generate your brand profile and any other AI-assisted content, which requires sending relevant text to our AI provider (below).
  • To respond to support requests and, internally, to help us diagnose and prioritize issues.
  • To process payments for paid plans.
  • To maintain the security and integrity of the Service.

We don't sell your personal information.

3. Who We Share It With

We share data with the following categories of service providers, only as needed to run LocalTide:

  • Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes the text extracted from your submitted website to generate your brand profile, and processes support-request content when we use AI assistance to draft an internal response suggestion.
  • Cloudflare — hosts the Service and its database.
  • Google, Meta (Facebook), Microsoft, and X — only if you choose to sign in with one of them; we receive the basic profile data described above.
  • Our payment processor — if you subscribe to a paid plan.

We don't share your data with anyone else except to comply with the law, or with your direction.

4. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain it for legal, tax, or security reasons (for example, payment records).

5. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You can edit most of your own data directly in LocalTide, or reach us through the Help option in the footer to make a request.

6. Security

Passwords are hashed (never stored in plain text), sessions are managed with secure cookies, and quick-login PINs are hashed and locked out after repeated failed attempts. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data appropriately for what it is.

7. Children's Privacy

LocalTide isn't directed to, and we don't knowingly collect data from, anyone under 18.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service.

9. Contact

Questions about this Policy, or want to make a data request? Reach us through the Help option in the footer of the Service.
